← Back to Record Keeper

Effective Date: June 1, 2026

Short version: We collect your email address to create your account and store your homeschool data securely in the cloud using Google Firebase. We never sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties beyond what's needed to run the service. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.

1. Who We Are

The Record Keeper is a tool created by A Tale of Changes, a homeschool resource brand based in New York, USA. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at ataleofchanges@gmail.com.

2. What Data We Collect

When you create an account and use the Record Keeper, we collect and store the following information:

We do not collect payment information directly. Payments are processed by Stripe, which has its own privacy policy.

3. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase, a cloud storage and authentication platform operated by Google. This means your data is accessible across all devices you sign into. Firebase data is stored in Google's secure cloud infrastructure in the United States.

We do not have direct access to your educational records for any purpose other than providing the service. Firebase is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to provide the Record Keeper service, including:

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the service.

5. Children's Privacy

The Record Keeper is designed for use by parents and homeschool educators. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

Information about children — such as grade level, curriculum, and educational progress — is entered by parents and stored as part of the parent's account. Parents have full control over this data and can delete it at any time by deleting their account.

We do not require entry of a child's name. If a parent chooses to enter a child's name, it is stored solely as part of their private account data and is never shared publicly or used for any purpose other than displaying within the app.

The Wrapped shareable graphic does not include a child's name by design. It displays grade level and school nickname only.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own purposes. We share data only with the following service providers as necessary to operate the service:

7. Analytics

This tool may use anonymous analytics to understand general usage patterns such as page visits and feature usage. This data does not include any personally identifiable information or the content of your educational records.

8. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have full control over your data at all times. You can:

When you request account deletion, all your data — including school information, child records, weekly logs, and glow entries — will be permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the CCPA. Since we do not sell your personal information, most CCPA provisions do not apply. Contact us with any questions.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data including use of Firebase's built-in security rules, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and Firebase Authentication for account access. However, no internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong unique password for your account.

10. Third-Party Links

The Record Keeper does not contain links to third-party websites beyond those listed in this policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party services.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
