1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account and using the Record Keeper ("the Tool"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Tool. These terms may be updated at any time — continued use of the Tool after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
2. What the Tool Does
The Record Keeper is a homeschool journal that helps families document weekly educational activities, track curriculum progress, collect monthly gem achievements, and generate a year-end shareable graphic ("Wrapped") and printable learning record reports.
The Tool is a documentation aid only. It does not verify, certify, or validate any educational activities. It is not affiliated with any school, accreditation body, government agency, or educational institution.
3. Your Account
To use the Record Keeper you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your account credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
You may not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of others without their consent.
4. Your Responsibilities
You are solely responsible for:
- The accuracy and completeness of all information entered into the Tool
- Any learning record reports you generate and how you use or share them
- Understanding your state's homeschool reporting requirements and ensuring your records meet those requirements
- Any consequences arising from errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in your records
5. Personal Records Disclaimer
Learning records and reports generated by this Tool are personal documentation prepared by the user. A Tale of Changes makes no representations or warranties regarding the suitability, accuracy, or acceptability of any records generated using this Tool for any particular purpose, including but not limited to state reporting, umbrella school submission, ESA reimbursement, or any other institutional use.
We strongly recommend reviewing all generated records carefully and consulting your state's homeschool laws before submitting any documentation to any authority or institution.
6. Shared Content
The Wrapped year-end graphic is designed to be shared on social media. By sharing your Wrapped graphic you confirm that you are comfortable sharing the information it contains publicly. The Wrapped graphic does not include your child's name by design, but does include grade level and your chosen school nickname. You are responsible for reviewing the content before sharing.
7. Pricing and Subscriptions
The Record Keeper offers both free and paid tiers:
- Free tier: One child, full weekly logging, gem collection, and Wrapped graphic.
- Paid tier: Up to five children, report generation, cloud sync across devices, and additional features. Available as a monthly or annual subscription.
Pricing details are available on the pricing page. We reserve the right to modify pricing at any time with reasonable notice. Founding member pricing is locked for the duration of an active subscription. Cancellation of a founding member subscription forfeits the locked pricing.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us at ataleofchanges@gmail.com.
8. Data and Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at ataleofchanges@gmail.com. All data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of your request. Deleted data cannot be recovered.
We recommend exporting your learning records before deleting your account.
9. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the Tool to:
- Submit records to any institution that misrepresent your child's actual educational activity
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
- Interfere with or disrupt the Tool's operation
- Use the Tool for any unlawful purpose
- Reverse engineer, copy, or create derivative works from the Tool without permission
10. No Warranty
The Tool is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Tool will be error-free, uninterrupted, or continuously available. We do not warrant that records generated will meet the requirements of any particular institution or state authority.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, A Tale of Changes shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Tool, including but not limited to loss of data, rejection by any institution, or reliance on inaccurate records.
12. Intellectual Property
The Record Keeper, including its design, code, gem collection system, Wrapped graphic format, and content, is the property of A Tale of Changes. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission. Your personal educational data remains your own.
13. Changes to the Tool
We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue the Tool at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Tool.
14. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.
